MAKING APPOINTMENTS
- Patients are seen in the office by appointment only. In general, referral from your primary physician or another specialist is necessary. Please call the office to schedule an appointment.
- Information regarding your symptoms, medical history, prior operations and medications are vital to your care. It allows us to create an overall picture of your health and helps us determine how you may benefit from and what your risks are for surgery. At your first appointment, gatering this information may take some time. Bringing this information to your appointment to be reviewed prior to seeing the physician greatly facilitates and optimizes your time with the physician.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
- Please call ahead to discuss any insurance details and to confirm authorization and co-payment amounts, if applicable. We accept cash or checks, but we do not currently accept credit card payments. Your insurance company will be billed directly if we are a participating provider of your insurance company. We will try to asist you if difficulties arise handling claims, but ultimately payment is the patient's responsibility.

PRESCRIPTIONS & REFILLS
- Patients will generally be given prescriptions upon discharge from the hospital after surgery. Sufficient supplies are usually given such that the prescriptions should not run out prior to a follow-up appointment.
- In the case that a prescription needs to be refilled, pleas call the office during business hours, when we may review your medical records. In general, it is preferable to evaluate the patient for any new, persistent or recurrent issues prior to refilling. Certain prescriptions may not be fefilled without a physician evaluation in person first.
EMERGENCY
CALL OUR OFFICE IF YOU HAVE:
- After spine surgery, if experience fever greater than 101.5 degrees, new or worsening nausea, vomiting, positional headaches, loss of bowel or bladder control, drainage from your incision or fluid other than occasional blood spotting, increasing redness or tenderness of the incision, leg swelling or calf tenderness.
- After brain surgery, if you experience new or worsening headaches, nausea, vomiting, visual changes, weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, drainage from your incision or fluid other than occasional blood spotting, increasing redness or tenderness of the incision, leg swelling or calf tenderness.
- If you have not had surgery but experience a sudden worsening or change in your symptoms, such as worsening headache, new or increasing weakness, new bowel or bladder issues. In general, if you are concerned about any changes, do not hesitate to call our office.
- If you have an urgent problem during office hours, please call the office as soon as possible so that we may try to accomodate you for an office visit.
- After regular office hours, the phone is answered by a professional answering service. The answering service will take your number and locate the doctor on call who will return your call as soon as possible.
- If you do not receive a response from the physician on-call and if you believe that there is a true emergency, please proceed to the emergency room for evaluation. Please only call after hours for truly urgent issues that cannot wait until the next office business day. Prescriptions are not refilled after hours.
CONFIDIENTIALITY
- We follow strict privacy guidelines regarding your medical information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Information will only be released to individuals with your expressed consent, including family members, friends and your employer. Please follow the Forms link page for information release forms if you wish to request parts of your medical record or for it to be released to third parties.
